The children started with the day with a group time. Today is a first week of NAIDOC Week. It is held across Australia each July to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. To extend the children’s knowledge of indigenous culture, we read some stories and spoke about Aboriginal culture.
Our older children were invited to create an Aboriginal flag by doing a collage. We talked about the colours of the flag and what they represent; black for Aboriginal people, yellow for the Sun, the giver of life and protector, and red for the colour of the red earth.
The babies were busy inside making their very own native Australian animals, a Crimson Rosella. They enjoyed touching the feathers and pasting them onto the paper.
Isabelle loved exploring the nursery room.
Today in nursery, we welcomed Dhyan. Dhyan had a great time playing and exploring his new environment. He is settling very well.
Today we started the transition from Emerald to Aqua. They were so excited and went around looking for their photos in Aqua. They saw where their new lockers will be. They enjoyed group time with their new teachers and afterwards they had the opportunity to explore their new environment. We are looking forward to visit again tomorrow.
