Happy Monday everyone! The Aqua explorers started this beautiful day with yoga, together with Alejandra, they stretched and performed some of their favourite poses such as the crocodile and butterfly. While some explorers were busy with Yoga, others were busy exploring balancing and building with wooden blocks. The Lego table was also busy with children building garden and zoos. Construction is a great experience for children to extend their cognitive, language, social and fine motor skills. Some explorers also enjoyed some quiet time at the sofa looking at different books.
Just before learning centre time, the children had two group times with Nelson and Helena. With Nelson, the children read some of their favourite stories and revisited the days of the week. They also visited the letter of the week which is ‘u’. With Helena, the children counted the number of days with fingers, animals as well as ice creams. They also read stories like ‘the very Brave bear’ and ‘Farmer in the dell’’. The children also requested for the special treasure box, children sang some of their favourite songs with the props from the box. Language experience such as these provided opportunities for the children to facilitate their cognitive and language skills.
During learning centre time, the children assisted Helena in making a new batch of playdough. They loved feeling the texture of the different ingredients and loved smelling the hair conditioner used in the playdough. Once the playdough was cooked, the children extended their cognitive skills by exploring the playdough with all their senses. The explorers also made pretend cakes and snowman! With Saki (our student teacher), the children practiced their cutting skills. At the round table inside, the children were introduced the letter D with Alejandra. With different collage materials the children made the letter D. Outside with Nelson, the children facilitated their physical skills by throwing at a target. The sandpit was also busy with children exploring volume.
The Aqua explorers had so much fun today!
