Happy hump day everyone! On this beautiful Wednesday morning, the Aqua explorers participated int variety of self-selected experiences. The puzzle table was busy with children practicing their cognitive skills. A group of explorers assisted Helena in making playdough, they were such good helpers pouring and mixing ingredients. The home corner was also busy with children cooking and putting dolls to sleep. Some of us practiced our fine motor skills through drawing and building with playdough.

Just before learning centre, the children were divided into three story group times. With Bambi the children listened to different stories and songs from the IPOD. They also read some of their favourite stories with Bambi. With Nelson, the children revisited the Halloween and dinosaur stories. With Helena, the explorer revisited the story ‘I’m not scare’ to see the various Halloween characters. They also requested to do the story ‘if you are happy and you know it’ and the ‘Lion sleeps tonight’. Literacy group time such as these provide opportunities for children to extend on their cognitive and language skills.

During learning centre time, the children were invited to various experiences. As Halloween is approaching, some children were invited to make ghosts and pumpkin crafts. With Rosanna, the explorers were encouraged to make pumpkin with the orange play dough. With Bambi, the children created bean stalk with Popsicle and leaves. The explorers continued to explore healthy eating with Liza by making a plate of healthy food. In the yard with Nelson, the Explorers were busy practising their gross motor skills with Nelson.

The Aqua explorers had such a busy hump day today.
