Hello, Crimson families. It is another beautiful weather today. Children enjoyed being in the yard as well as in the room or on the deck. Just a quick reminder to the families: please remind your child to pack a hat in their bags. Thank you.
During group time, we gathered on the mat and listened to our friend’s news. The topic for this week is ‘Spring season’. All children are welcome to bring something that is associated with spring. Some of the examples are flowers, animals, drawings, pictures, and books etc….
Teos – story“
There was a person. He has two kids. He tried to make a gigantic garden. One of the kids planted a tree. It became a big tree. It was orange tree. He said ‘If we have a gigantic garden, funnel web spiders will make web on the ground and poison my children. But children said ‘No, funnel web spiders won’t poison us.” So they made a gigantic garden together.”
Evelyn– a tomato plant
“This is tomato. I will put it next to basil. I chose tomato because I like tomato and I wanted to eat it. I’m gonna pick them and give them to my sister. My sister will eat them. I don’t like tomato cooked so my mum doesn’t cook it.
Alexia – book ‘Honey bear who is afraid of bees’
“My mummy bought it for me. This is my favourite page because there is a little house and letter inside. I like this book because of flowers.”
Euan – story
“Once upon a time, there was an old man. He went out for a walk and then he saw something moving. So he went into a dangerous place no one had ever been. He saw something moving again. He thought it was lizard but it was actually a chameleon.
During the learning centre time, children worked into two groups.
A group of children who stayed inside of the room explored emotion again. Today, they listened to the book ‘Sometimes I feel sad’, and discussed ‘What do you do when you feel sad?’, and ‘What would you do when you see someone else is sad?’. Laura said she would ask her mummy to cuddle her when she is sad. Teos said he would talk to someone about how he feels when he is sad. Oli said he would say funny things and make someone laugh when someone is sad. After, they engaged in drawing/painting activities to express their idea about sadness.
On the deck, another group of children discussed spring. They talked about the name of each part of the flower and how the flower blooms in spring. They were able to name all the parts of the flower such as petals, stems, etc. After, children enjoyed making spring potions using various natural materials. And on the other table, they expressed themselves through art and created flowers using paper baking cups.
Have a wonderful afternoon. Stay safe everyone!
